Opening of Alexandra Polyakova’s Debut Exhibition “enamoured—estranged”

The exhibition brings together works created over the past four years, during a period marked by emigration and motherhood.

Working with found photographs, letters, fabrics, and everyday objects, Alexandra Polyakova develops a visual language in which personal memory becomes intertwined with collective experience.

In these works, the artist explores the shifting boundaries between the familiar and the foreign, recognition and estrangement, image and identity — as if taking material impressions of them.

Distance, appropriation, and the figure of the Other allow her to look at her own experience from the outside and reconstruct it anew.

The exhibition features collages, assemblages, cyanotypes, objects, an artist’s book, and video.

The exhibition runs through September 20. Friday–Sunday, 3:00–6:00 PM.
