On Tuesday evening, August 18, as always, we’re playing debates!
Usually, up to 20 people join our meetings, while our private community already has around 80 members. So expect to spend the evening in a big and fun group :)
This Tuesday, we’ll be debating in the British Parliamentary format: you get the topic, have 15 minutes to prepare, and then it’s game on — each participant gets 6 minutes to speak. It’s incredibly energizing!
Sounds difficult? No problem. We support and teach beginners — we were beginners ourselves not too long ago :)
Debating isn’t about manipulation or rhetorical tricks.
First and foremost, we:
• Practice building strong arguments;
• Look for cause-and-effect relationships;
• Compare scale and impact;
• Explore issues from different perspectives;
• Learn to express our thoughts clearly.
Debates also offer some less obvious but equally valuable opportunities:
• To think for yourself amid old and new worldviews;
• To separate your opinion from your identity and debate without getting overly emotional;
• To resist manipulation;
• To avoid dogmatic thinking;
• And finally, to give yourself permission to make mistakes and even be a little cringe in public :)
This is more than just a game — these are practical skills for both your career and everyday life. Come and give it a try!
Our coaches have extensive experience in competitive debating and have participated in and won tournaments, so you’ll be in good hands.
