On Tuesday evening, September 1, we’re playing debates as usual!
We normally have up to 20 people at each session, while our private community has already grown to around 80 members. So you can expect a fun evening in great company :)
This Tuesday, we’ll be using the British Parliamentary debate format: you receive the motion, get 15 minutes to prepare, and then it’s time to go — each participant speaks for 6 minutes. It’s an incredible mental workout.
Sounds difficult? No problem. We support beginners and teach you along the way — we were beginners ourselves not too long ago :)
Debating isn’t about manipulation or clever rhetorical tricks.
First and foremost, we practise how to:
• Build strong arguments;
• Identify cause-and-effect relationships;
• Compare scale and impact;
• Look at an issue from different perspectives;
• Express our thoughts clearly.
Debates also offer some less obvious benefits:
• Learning to think for yourself amid constantly changing old and new worldviews;
• Separating your opinion from your identity and avoiding emotional arguments;
• Resisting manipulation;
• Avoiding dogmatic thinking;
• And finally, giving yourself permission to make mistakes and be a little cringe in public :)
This is more than just a game — these are practical skills for both career and everyday life. Come give it a try!
Our trainers have extensive experience in competitive debating and have participated in and won tournaments, so you’ll be in good hands.
