A young girl named Yuraya is born on a mountainous island in the middle of the ocean. The island’s dense forests are home to many wild animals, but the most feared are the mysterious creatures known as the Ochi. Some say they're just a fairy tale to scare children, others believe they're dangerous beings.

One day, Yuraya finds a lost Ochi cub in the forest and decides to return it to its parents. Along the way, she must learn to communicate with this strange creature and prove to the people of her island that it’s better to befriend the Ochi than to fear them.
