On Monday evening, we invite you to watch one of the latest film releases — “Nuremberg” (Nuremberg, 2025), dedicated to the famous historical trial of Nazi war criminals.
The film tells the story of the psychological confrontation between the talented psychiatrist Douglas Kelley and Reichsmarschall of Nazi Germany Hermann Göring — a confrontation whose outcome influenced the course of the Nuremberg Trials.
Kelley observes Göring, whose charisma and composure evoke both disgust and admiration in the doctor. Göring openly admits to creating the concentration camp system as a forced labor structure but denies responsibility for turning it into a machine of extermination, shifting the blame onto other leaders.
His interactions with Göring, along with the investigation of other defendants — from former Admiral Karl Dönitz to propagandist Julius Streicher — reveal the psychology of evil and the nature of a legal procedure that became a precedent in international law.
The film stars Rami Malek, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, and Richard E. Grant.
As always, after the screening we will discuss both the artistic and historical context of the film.
The screening will be hosted by our good friend Andrey, author of the channel “Russian Metanoia” (@rusmetanoia).
