A love letter to French cinema of the 1950s–60s, this black-and-white comedy follows Jean-Luc Godard as he makes his first film, Breathless, one of the cornerstone masterpieces of French cinema. At the center of the story is the film crew: Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jean Seberg, producer Georges de Beauregard, and the unflappable cinematographer Raoul Coutard. Along the way, a couple dozen other figures of the era appear as well — Truffaut, Rossellini, Bresson, Melville, Cocteau… all portrayed by non-professional actors, in keeping with the master’s own artistic approach.
