Trainspotting

The most famous film about heroin chic of the 90s. Four young Brits have long been hooked on heroin because the consumerist society cannot offer them anything more interesting. They no longer see the line between the trance and reality. But all the pleasant things that happen to them take place in their imagination, and all the nastiness turns out to be real.

A loose adaptation of Irvine Welsh's novel of the same name - a forty-year-old Scotsman who used to fix televisions, worked for the Edinburgh city council, played in a punk band in London called "Pubic Lice," was arrested for petty crimes, and was hooked on heroin.

The film was first recognized as the best Scottish film of all time and then as the best British film in the last 60 years.
