One of Chantal Akerman’s most profound and penetrating studies of a character, devoted to a woman who resembles her own alter ego.
A female independent film director, while promoting her new movie, travels through Germany, Belgium, and France, moving across the alienating landscapes of hotel rooms, train stations, and cinemas, encountering friends, lovers, relatives, and strangers along the way. Amid a series of eerie, masterfully shot short encounters, her emotional and physical detachment from the world becomes strikingly apparent.
After the screening, we’ll brew tea and share our impressions. The session will be led by philosopher and film scholar (and cinema owner) Varya Vlasova.
