Katsunori Ishii is the winner of the 3rd Prize at the 59th Music Competition of Japan, the 4th Prize at the Robert Casadesus International Piano Competition, and the 1st Prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition.
As a soloist, he has performed with renowned orchestras worldwide and regularly appears at international festivals both as a pianist and as a pedagogue. Over the years, he has served on the juries of numerous international competitions. Since 2006, he has been a member of the Executive Committee and Expert Council of the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition.
His discography includes Schubert’s Impromptus D.935, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, and the album Words of Love, featuring works by Granados, Stravinsky, and Schubert.
Katsunori Ishii is currently a professor at the Tokyo College of Music.
