Tbilisi State Russian Drama Theater named after A. Griboyedov - the first professional theater group in the Caucasus, the oldest Russian theater in the post-Soviet space. The theater was founded in Tbilisi on September 20, 1845 by the Governor of the Caucasus, Count M. At the request of Vorontsov. Many prominent people started their careers from the Griboyedov Theater. Since 1999, the theater has been directed by Avtandil Varsimashvili, laureate of the State Prize of Georgia.
