This year, Easter will be celebrated on April 20 — a holiday so deeply rooted in our lives that even those far from religion often take part in its traditions. Egg dyeing, Easter bread, springtime renewal — all of this has become part of the cultural landscape we inhabit.
Easter is not only a spiritual event but also a significant historical and symbolic phenomenon.
Ahead of the holiday, we’d like to invite you to explore the plants that are in one way or another associated with this day.
The lecture is roughly divided into two parts. The first part will cover the symbols of Holy Week — the days leading up to Easter. The second part will focus on images closer to our time — the plants and greenery commonly seen during Easter celebrations today.
We will also discover which local plant species and herbs in Georgia are traditionally used to create a festive atmosphere.
