Zoroastrianism is an ancient religion, which was practiced on the territory of Georgia even before the adoption of Christianity. One of the symbols of this religion was the temple fire, so the followers of the cult were often called “fire worshippers”.
The culture of Zoroastrians and their prophet Zarathustra left traces that can still be seen in Georgia in the form of folk tales and preserved religious buildings.
In Old Tbilisi it is Ateshga temple, in Kakheti - Nekreski temple of fire, in Shida-Kartli - Tsikhiagora. Elements of Zoroastrian architecture can also be found in Uplistsikhe.
