Lecture on Daniil Kharms
Batumi’s lecture series dedicated to the lives of writers continues. On Tuesday, September 8, the next meeting will focus on Daniil Kharms — one of the most eccentric, ironic, and unforgettable figures of 20th-century Russian literature.
During the lecture, you’ll discover:
Why Kharms chose such an unusual pseudonym;
What lies behind his absurd wordplay and famous jokes;
How provocation and illogicality became central tools in his writing;
Whether one could attempt to attack a tsar and still survive;
And, finally — who is cooler: Yozh or Chizh?
The lecture will be led by Vitaly Kibitlevsky (@gid_poet) — a poet and guide with 10 years of experience, as well as the author of articles and lectures on Georgian history and writers’ biographies.
