Lecture: “Inside Hitler’s Mind”

Did you miss it? So did we! This Sunday marks the first session of Pavel Usanov’s new course in 2026 in Tbilisi.

The lecture will focus on the worldview of Adolf Hitler, as articulated in his book Mein Kampf.
Everyone has heard of it, but few have actually read it. You will have a unique opportunity to learn its content through scholarly commentary on specific points. This has not previously been done in the post-Soviet space.

Was it true that Hitler was fascinated by occultism and mysticism, and that his worldview was irrational? Can his behavior be explained by sexual pathologies, the “collective unconscious,” or clinical insanity? Why did he hate Jews? Was he a socialist? How did he view Stalin? How did he differ from Mussolini? Is it true that Hitler had no economic views? If he did, what were they? What does Hitler have in common with contemporary dictators? What lessons has humanity failed to learn from the history and worldview of Adolf Hitler?

We will examine the sources from which Hitler drew his ideas, what those ideas consisted of, and how they became appealing to millions of Germans—so much so that they were willing not only to give their lives for him, but also to commit some of the most horrific crimes in human history.

We will also explore how modern scholars have reconstructed Hitler’s thoughts and views based on his books, speeches, and conversations, and determine when Hitler spoke honestly and when he lied.

The lecture is part of the course “The Economics of Dictatorship,” which examines well-known examples of dictatorships and how economies functioned under such regimes.
