Humpback whales are some of the most expressive marine animals. They sing, leap, protect others, nurture their calves, and sometimes approach humans out of curiosity.
In this lecture:
we’ll explore why whales sing and how their songs can be heard across thousands of kilometers;
show footage of breaching, hunting, and parental care captured in the wild;
explain why humpback whales fight orcas—even when it’s not directly their conflict;
discuss why they undertake long migrations every year;
demonstrate where and how you can legally and safely get into the water near a whale.
