On August 19, a Laz song concert will be held in Batumi.
Generally, the second half of August is a public holiday for the Laz. In our Sarpi/Kvariati region, it is called “Kolkhoba”. In the Laz towns of Turkey, they traditionally hold festivals.
During this period, Laz people from all over the world return to their towns and villages and celebrate the holiday of the sea together. The Laz people also call themselves “children of the sea”.
We are dedicating a Laz song concert in Batumi to our Laz people’s public holiday – “Kolkhoba”.
Famous stars of Georgian pop music –
with famous Georgian hits sung in Laz.
Many Laz guests from Turkey will come here and get acquainted with Georgian culture.
It should also be said that Batumi has historically been an administrative center for the Laz people and is therefore a very close and beloved city for them.
