Our subjective selection of short films by the beloved and wonderful David Lynch.
**Six Men Getting Sick (1967) **
His very first animation work. "I painted a black canvas: there was a green garden painted on a black background... I looked at this painting and heard the wind, saw the painting begin to move. That's where it all started."
**The Grandmother (1970) **
Lynch's first major success as a director. A surreal story about a little boy who is mistreated by his parents, filled with mysteries, unique shots, and disturbing scenes. Moreover, "The Grandmother" has recently been restored, so we can watch it in high quality.
**What Did Jack Do? (2017)**
Lynch plays a detective interrogating a monkey named Jack, suspected of murder and connections with a chicken. This interrogation is overflowing with puns, metaphors, absurdities, and animalistic idioms.
**Industrial Symphony No. 1: The Dream of the Broken Hearted (1992)**
Honestly, this symphony is why we initiated this entire selection. An amazing musical fantasy where surreal visions unfold against mysterious structures, and Angelo Badalamenti's music set to Lynch's own texts enhances the effect of darkness and mystery.
