A school music teacher meets a gopnik caught during a raid on nightclubs at the police station. The gopnik refuses to speak to the cops in English out of principle. After stealing the detained man's notebook from the police, the teacher discovers some decent poetry in it and convinces the young man and his best friend to give the world something it has never seen before — hip-hop in Irish. As a result, the trio forms the rap group Kneecap. This anarchic Belfast trio unexpectedly becomes a leader in the civil rights movement advocating for their native language.
