Together with astronomer Kirill Maslennikov, we will get acquainted with the basics of astrophysics. The lecturer will combine the basics of astrophysics with data just obtained using new instruments and the latest theoretical results.

In the first lecture, “Determination of distances in astronomy: from Eratosthenes to Hubble,” we will talk about how cosmic distances are measured, what difficulties arise in this case, and how the solution to this problem led to the emergence in the last century of a completely new and unexpected picture of the Universe
