An absurdist Kafkaesque comedy from our beloved “Monsieur Oizo,” director and DJ Quentin Dupieux. The film begins like an ordinary detective story: a man is summoned to a police station to clarify the circumstances of a mysterious death. Gradually, the logic of events dissolves somewhere between bureaucracy, dream, and pure absurdity. At some point it becomes completely unclear who is investigating whom, what actually happened, and whether any rules exist in this world at all.
In Dupieux’s films, absurdity is not decoration but the main driving force. Scene after scene, the director deliberately breaks the audience’s expectations. His films are a continuous parody of contemporary auteur cinema, a playful mockery of the laws and conventions of filmmaking.
