"Tsalka Canyon, Javakheti Lakes, and Tabatskuri Turpans" – Birdwatching Tour with Ornithologist Nika Paposhvili 

We invite you to an exciting tour with ornithologist Nika Paposhvili, where we will not only enjoy the magnificent Georgian nature, canyons, and lakes but also meet the feathered inhabitants of these places. We will visit Tsalka Canyon, where daytime raptors reign. There, we will have the chance to see griffon vultures, white-headed vultures, and Egyptian vultures.

Next, we will explore the world of Javakheti lakes. We will visit the largest lake, Paravani, and at Bugdashen Lake, we will get acquainted with various species of ducks. If we’re lucky, we might also spot a pelican. We will visit the village of the Doukhobors and watch the sunset at Madatapi Lake.

On the second day of our journey, we will visit Tabatskuri Lake, where our guide Nika Paposhvili discovered the only population of Turpan (the Caucasian Bustard) in the Caucasus, and has been actively working on its preservation. We will see this rare bird with our own eyes. If you wish, you can have lunch with ruff and take a ride on a rubber boat.
