What do we know about the Georgian Military Road? That Pushkin traveled this way on his journey to Erzurum, followed by Ostap Bender and Kisa Vorobyaninov, and more recently, countless cyclists have taken the same route. In reality, the Georgian Military Road is an incredible blend of engineering marvels and fascinating stories. For thousands of years, it has been the main route through the Caucasus — not only for conquerors but more importantly, for merchants and travelers. Every section of the road holds its own unique story and landmark.
This route exists thanks to the unique geological landscape — and at times, it feels as if it defies the laws of nature. It’s undoubtedly one of the most beautiful mountain roads in the world, and remarkably, you can comfortably drive through it by car. Deep gorges, snow-capped peaks, glaciers, and mountain rivers — there’s likely no other place in the Caucasus where you can experience all of this in just one day.
An intense one-day journey: we’ll travel 150 km there and 150 km back.
