On February 16, Alexei Navalny, the main opposition politician and prisoner of conscience of modern Russia, was killed. Unfortunately, he was far from the first - all authoritarian regimes in history suppressed dissent through repression, murder and imprisonment.
This Wednesday there will be a meeting in our space at which we would like to honor the memory of all the brave and bright people who opposed coercion and oppression by talking about the most famous political prisoners in history.
What was their fate? Which of them survived and won victory over their tormentors and oppressors, and which never managed to escape from prison? How do descendants feel about these tragic figures?
