The board game The Great Western Trail: Second Edition is an economic strategy where players take on the roles of cattle ranchers, builders, railroaders... literally "a jack of all trades." But first and foremost, you are a cattle rancher. This is a deck-building game where you aim to assemble the most valuable herd to earn the most victory points. But that’s not all: in order for your herd to earn victory points, you must drive them as far as possible, which means developing infrastructure, laying down railroads, and protecting your herd from bandits—requiring the right resources for the job. In the second edition, several aspects of the rules have been reworked, new elements have been added, and the game has received several improvements, including a new design, a new breed of cows, a new mechanic for aging cows, double-layered boards, and much more.
