At the lecture, we will discuss how abstract or "non-objective" art was born—art that doesn’t try to depict objects from the real world—and how Picasso influenced this shift.
We will also explore:
Why did the Futurists want to destroy museums and worshipped the crowd, speed, machines, and rebellion?
Why did they challenge France’s monopoly over the development of modern art?
Why did Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso begin including three-dimensional objects and text in their paintings?
The lecture on the development of art in the early 20th century will be led by Vadim Nasledov, PhD in History, teacher, and lecturer.
