In the Museo del Prado in Madrid there is a hall dedicated to the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch — and it is almost always crowded. Visitors spend hours examining tiny scenes: strange monsters, beaked birds, twisting bodies and… dozens of backsides. And this seems far from accidental.
Bosch’s paintings are like a giant ring of keys — and we keep trying to understand which locks they open.
At the lecture we will talk about how the imagination of one of the most mysterious artists in history worked, and what meanings are hidden in his fantastic worlds.
