Helver’s Night

Everything was decided the moment God died inside Karla.
Long ago, they met by chance and, hoping that perhaps something might change, began living together. Yet only one of them made the decisions. In fact, one person made every decision — whether it was baking a cheese pie or overdosing on medication.

Outside, those who were different were hunted down and mercilessly thrown onto trucks. Helver was different too. And since there seemed to be no salvation, Karla took God’s mission upon herself — and made the final decision.
