“Green Evenings” — Tonino Guerra Festival at the Botanical Garden
On June 6–7, the open-air event space of the National Botanical Garden of Georgia will host the nature and arts festival “Green Evenings / Serate Verdi”, dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Italian poet, writer, painter, sculptor, screenwriter, and cultural figure Tonino Guerra.
Tonino Guerra’s creative legacy includes numerous screenplays recognized as classics of world cinema. He shared a special connection with Georgia and Georgian artists. The festival is organized by the International Tonino Guerra Foundation with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Georgia, Tbilisi City Hall, and the National Botanical Garden of Georgia.
On June 6 at 8:00 PM, the festival will officially open with a concert by Italian singer Consuelo Alfieri and her band.
On the second day of the festival, June 7, a ceremony for planting rare and forgotten Georgian fruit tree saplings will take place in the Tonino Guerra Avenue of Forgotten Fruit Trees within the Botanical Garden.
The festival will conclude with the theatrical performance “Medea’s Sculpture”, written and directed by Mikheil Mrevlishvili, with music composed by Dato Evgenidze.
“Green Evenings / Serate Verdi” is a unique meeting point of Italian and Georgian cultural traditions, offering the public two remarkable evenings centered around music, theatre, cultural memory, and environmental awareness.
