Raoul is deeply worried about his wife Solange, who suffers from melancholy and indifference to life. She seems to have everything, yet remains profoundly unhappy. In a desperate and peculiar attempt to help her, Raoul befriends a gentle, timid man named Stéphane — and asks him to make his wife happy. What follows is a relationship between the three that teeters between a love triangle, a philosophical experiment, and an absurd farce.
A bold, tender, and painfully funny story about love and the impossibility of truly being understood.
Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, César Award for Best Original Score.
