The Georgian Music Festival “Mus-Skivri” will once again welcome its audience this year. Our wish and the festival’s main mission is, of course, to popularize Georgian music. At a time when listeners are spoiled with festivals of various genres, it is important for Georgian music to have its own space — a platform where it can speak in its own voice and be preserved.
The “Music Chest” is full of treasures: works by Revaz Lagidze, Bidzina Kvernadze, Giya Kancheli, Sulkhan Tsintsadze, and many other Georgian composers. This is where masterpieces are kept — works that never lose their relevance and significance, and that are so dearly loved by the audience.
Fortunately, Georgian music and its great composers are not only a matter of the past. We live in an era where contemporary musicians serve Georgian music with the same devotion and love. One of our main goals is for this “chest” of treasures to remain alive and ever-growing, enriched by the names of our contemporaries, who join the list of those we cherish and take pride in.
The festival will open with the treasures of Mus-Skivri — music that has already become a tradition. The following days will be dedicated to the Project of the Year and the Author of the Year. The festival will conclude with an award ceremony.
