Georgian Academic Art and Culture Awards — “MEGA 2026” Ceremony

For 27 consecutive years, the “MEGA” Awards have recognized and supported people working in the arts, honoring their long-standing contributions as well as outstanding works and creative achievements produced throughout each year.

Over the years, the awards have also preserved the legacy of individuals who left a significant mark on the development of Georgian art. With this purpose, several special awards were established: “King’s MEGA” in honor of Irakli Charkviani, “Odzela’s MEGA” in honor of talented Georgian musician Dato Odzelashvili, and “Teona’s MEGA” in honor of Teona Kumsiashvili, one of the remarkable voices of Georgian folk music. For many years, winners in these categories have received the awards from close members of the artists’ families.

In 2015, a special award honoring Eter Kakulia — “Eto’s MEGA” — was established in the “Positive Personality of the Year” category. Other special awards include “Temo’s MEGA” in honor of renowned Georgian folk singer Teimuraz Tsiklauri, “Doija’s MEGA” in honor of Zura Doijashvili, and “Mamuka’s MEGA” in honor of Mamuka Onashvili.

Winners in these categories are selected through a monitoring process from among distinguished Georgian artists and in coordination with the respective families.

This year, the 27th ceremony will feature nearly 30 award categories, with approximately 300–500 invited guestsexpected to attend.

Throughout its 27-year history, the event has been covered by major media outlets, while the full ceremony is broadcast on Varskvlavebi TV.
