General Psychology Course

• current and prospective students of the Tbilisi Gestalt Institute and other psychotherapy institutes who aim to gain a general psychological education and prepare for master’s level studies.

• become familiar with the historical development of psychology, major theories, and contemporary approaches;

• be able to explain the structure and functions of the brain and nervous system and relate them to behavior and mental disorders;

• understand key models of personality, cognitive, emotional, and social development;

• explain learning, memory, and motivation processes and relate them to everyday behavior;

• recognize the role of social influence, group dynamics, and stress in individual and societal life;

• learn core concepts of mental health and psychopathology, including DSM-5 and ICD-11 classifications, and be able to identify and describe major disorders;

• gain skills in applying fundamental psychological research methods while adhering to ethical standards.

Duration: 11 months (1 module per month)

Schedule: weekends, 3–4 hours per session
