Film Screening: The Banshees of Inisherin (Martin McDonagh, 2022) in the Auditorium Book Hall

Against the backdrop of the Irish Civil War, two friends go through a personal — silent and absurd — conflict of their own.
The film tells the story of two long-time friends (played by Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson), one of whom suddenly decides to end the friendship.
When a friend tells you, “You’re dull. I don’t want to talk to you anymore,” it might seem like a joke — but not on the island of Inisherin!

The film was acclaimed by critics, who praised McDonagh’s screenplay and direction, Burwell’s music, and the acting performances.
The National Board of Review included The Banshees of Inisherin in its list of the top 10 films of 2022.
It received eight nominations at the 80th Golden Globe Awards and won in three categories, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
