On August 1st, 111 years ago, World War I began — a conflict that lasted four years and three months. On this date, we will watch the anti-war film “All Quiet on the Western Front”, based on the novel by Erich Maria Remarque.

Germany, 1917. Filled with patriotic enthusiasm, 19-year-old Paul Bäumer and his school friends volunteer for the front — only to be confronted with the brutal horrors of World War I.

After the screening, a discussion will follow with political scientist Adam Lazebnik.
