Giorgi Koberidze’s musical work “Forests, Fairytales, Cities, Forests” was created specifically for cinema halls, yet it has no visual component. For 2 hours and 40 minutes, the audience sits in a dark cinema where nothing can be heard except the music.
The work was created over the course of three years. Its compositional techniques are closely related to those used in film scoring, which is why it can be described as film music without a film.
The structure of the piece is also inspired by cinematic dramaturgy, introducing listeners to sonic characters, stories, and places that exist entirely through sound.
Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes.
