After the death of his ex-wife, once-famous film director Gustav Borg returns for the funeral. There, he reunites with his adult daughters, whom he hasn’t seen for many years. Gustav offers the lead role in his new film to his eldest daughter Nora, a theater actress.

The project is deeply personal: he plans to shoot the film based on an intimate script and in the family home where several generations once lived. Hurt and resentful toward her father, Nora refuses the role — and it is instead given to a young Hollywood star.
