In August 1121, on the narrow pass of Didgori, two worlds met — Christian Georgia and the thousands-strong Seljuk army. Here, David the Builder (Agmashenebeli) won one of the most brilliant victories of the Middle Ages, opening the "Golden Age" of the country. Today, at the site of the battle, stands a rare and fascinating memorial that combines Christian and pre-Christian symbols, bronze warriors, swords planted into the ground, and mysterious “singing” structures.
