In August 1121, at the narrow pass of Didgori, two worlds met – Christian Georgia and the thousands-strong Seljuk army. Here, David the Builder (Davit Aghmashenebeli) achieved one of the brightest victories of the Middle Ages, marking the beginning of the "Golden Age" of the country. Today, at the site of the battle, stands a rare and remarkable memorial that combines Christian and pre-Christian symbols, bronze warriors, swords thrust into the ground, and mysterious "singing" structures.
