Description

On the way, we’ll stop in a village known for baking the most delicious bread — you’ll see the traditional baking method and get a taste! (Bread: 1–2 GEL, bread-making workshop: 4–5 GEL)

We’ll visit the revered Bodbe Monastery, where Saint Nino — the Enlightener of Georgia — is buried. And the views there are absolutely stunning!

Then on to the legendary city of love and artists — Sighnaghi. You’ll have the chance to see works by Georgia’s most famous painter, Niko Pirosmani (optional museum entrance: 20 GEL).

We’ll walk along the most famous and longest fortress wall in Georgia — the Sighnaghi Fortress Wall — which surrounds the old town and stretches far beyond. Along the wall, 28 preserved watchtowers offer breathtaking views of the Alazani Valley.

Lunch will be in a cozy café with an Instagram-worthy view.

And if time allows, we’ll stop by the Manavi Fortress, perched high on a hill with spectacular views. Historically, it was the first fortress on the route from Tbilisi to eastern Georgia.

Location

Tbilisi
Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of around 1.2 million people. Tbilisi was founded in the fifth century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, and since then has served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Because of its location at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, and its proximity to the lucrative Silk Road, throughout history, Tbilisi has been a point of contention among various global powers. To this day, the city's location ensures its position as an important transit route for energy and trade projects. Tbilisi's history is reflected in its architecture, which is a mix of medieval, neoclassical, Beaux Arts, Art Nouveau, Stalinist, and Modern structures. Historically, Tbilisi has been home to people of multiple cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, though its population is overwhelmingly Eastern Orthodox Christian.
