A Very Long Engagement

The film could be called «Amelie. The Second Series». There is the same director and the same actress in the lead role, but the movie is completely different.

The First World War is continuing. A young girl (Audrey Totu) does not believe in the death of her lover, so she conducts her own investigation to find out what really happened on the Somme front. In order for you to appreciate the subtle play of romance and cynicism of the director, here is a quote from the film: «Matilda had an easy temper: she decided that if the thread did not lead her to Manek, it was nothing—she could always hang herself on it».

The film was presented at the Oscars in the categories of best cinematography and best artist`s work. In addition, the tape became a five-time winner of the Cesar Award.
