For a year and a half, the police tried to catch the murderer, but he kept leading them on... The latest episode of this investigation happened in August. A girl's body was found on the northern shore of the lake. Half-dressed, she had been left in a fern thicket, covered by a mat of branches. The day before, the police received a letter:

"The Salty Man came out of the water, and you won't catch him until you take this as seriously as I do. That red car I told you about — it's his. If you check, you'll understand everything. I'm writing to you again, but be careful. You know what to do with this letter..."
