"Sadness Will Come Later" — the long-awaited new production by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar — marks another virtuoso chapter in the collaborative journey of these two creators, holding a special place in Eyal’s body of work. "Sadness Will Come Later" is the most personal story involving dancers that she has ever created. The performance is dedicated to Sharon’s mother, Adina Yals; however, it is neither a requiem nor a mourning ritual. It is a work about the continuation of life—about the invisible traces people leave within us when they depart. What remains of them is not merely memories, but the body, movement, breath, gaze, habits, and rhythm. They continue to exist within us. The choreographer conveys the essence of the piece in three sentences:
"Life continues after death.
Sorrow endures, just as innocence does.
This is how a mother’s life goes on."
