In America, in the mid-60s, a partly-blind Czech emigrant Selma (Bjork) works at a kitchen equipment factory with the sole purpose of saving money for an operation for her getting blind son. Although everyone is crying according to the plot, including the audience, an experimental, exciting and extremely manipulative musical by a Danish provocateur is not only about Selma, but also about the global contradictions of modern culture. One of the most interesting and significant films of recent years.
The Palme d'Or of the Cannes Film Festival. Bjork's song «I've Seen It All» was nominated for the Academy Award as «Best Song».
After the screening, we’ll brew tea and share our impressions. The session will be led by philosopher and film scholar (and cinema owner) Varya Vlasova.
