Dadiani Palace
The palace was built in the 17th century as the residence of the Mingrelian rulers of the Dadiani family. Today it houses the State Historical and Ethnographic Museum.
Inside the palace you will find ancient jewelry, collections of medieval European armor and weapons, ethnographic items, paintings, Christian sacred objects, crystal, and porcelain.
Of special value are the relics of the princes of Samegrelo and the royal families of France, Russia, and Spain.
The main exhibit is considered to be the bronze death mask of Napoleon Bonaparte.
This year the museum will close for restoration — so there is still time to see this unique collection.
The port city and Black Sea resort of Batumi is the capital of the Georgian Republic of Adjara. The Batumi Boulevard runs along the seafront, a park, and a beach. The 130-meter-high Alphabet Tower, featuring inscriptions in the Georgian script, houses an observation deck with stunning sea views. In the Old Town, you can see many reconstructed 19th-century buildings. In the northern part of Batumi lies the botanical garden, home to plants from around the world.
