Description

Giorgi Nakhutsrishvili’s one-act Georgian fairy tale “Chinchraka,” considered a classic of children’s drama, comes to life once again on the small stage of the Tbilisi Youth Theatre.

“Chinchraka” is one of the most beloved and well-known Georgian children’s fairy tales, combining elements of traditional folklore, fantasy, humor, and folk motifs.

This visually rich performance, created through a blend of shadow theatre, music, and circus elements, takes audiences into a magical world full of imagination, humor, and adventure, where kindness, friendship, and courage become the greatest power of all.

A terrible giant threatens the kingdom. The people, living in fear and despair, no longer dare to resist. At that moment, a simple yet brave boy named Chinchraka appears — someone who believes in the power of goodness, justice, and friendship. Together with Princess Mzia, he embarks on a difficult and dangerous journey, faces many obstacles, and ultimately defeats evil through courage and loyalty.

Both children and adults are invited to experience an unforgettable theatrical adventure.

Nodar Dumbadze Theater (ნოდარ დუმბაძის თეატრი)
In 1928 Alexander Takaishvili created the Georgian Theater of the Young Spectator. The premiere of the first performance "Fritz Bauer" (N. Sats) took place on 11 November. It was followed by performances: "Robin Hood" (S. Zayatsky), "The Man in Black Glasses" (V. Kurdyumov), "Hiawatha" (N. Ognev) and others. Spectators watched the performances with great interest. The success of these performances is the merit of the artists: G. Kuprashvili, T. Tvaliashvili, G. Darispanashvili, M. Ergneli, a little later: V. Areshidze, I. Ninua, A. Kachkachishvili, N. Sirbiladze, D. Tskhakaia, N. Khorava, M. Dzhadzhanashvili, I. Donauri, G. Deisadze, A. Kiasashvili, D. Dzneladze, A. Gviniashvili and others. In 1998, the Georgian and Russian Theater of the Young Spectator merged under the name of the Central Children's Theater named after N. Dumbadze. The theater began its joint activities in the former building of the Russian Youth Theater. Thanks to the Cartu Charitable Foundation and the theater management, the building was completely reconstructed.
