CHICHILAKI WORKSHOP

Kalandoba is the Georgian New Year — and in Georgia it is celebrated with a unique traditional “Christmas tree” called Chichilaki.

What is this special tree and why must it be burned after the New Year?
How is it made and how should it be decorated?
We will discover all of this on an amazing journey to the homeland of the Georgian New Year tree — Guria.

Location

Batumi

The port city and Black Sea resort of Batumi is the capital of the Georgian Republic of Adjara. The Batumi Boulevard runs along the seafront, a park, and a beach. The 130-meter-high Alphabet Tower, featuring inscriptions in the Georgian script, houses an observation deck with stunning sea views. In the Old Town, you can see many reconstructed 19th-century buildings. In the northern part of Batumi lies the botanical garden, home to plants from around the world.
