THE BLACK SEA RIVIERA
We invite you on a fascinating excursion!
Departure date: May 11
In 1878, Adjara was returned to Georgia after 316 years of rule under the Ottoman Empire.
The beautiful subtropical climate, warm sea, and stunning nature quickly caught the attention of the ruling elite of the Russian Empire.
Almost immediately, construction began on summer residences for generals, counts, and princes along the Black Sea Riviera. In the Tsikhisdziri area alone, 114 dachas were built. Only a few have survived to this day, and some of them are officially recognized as historical monuments.
The port city and Black Sea resort of Batumi is the capital of the Georgian Republic of Adjara. The Batumi Boulevard runs along the seafront, a park, and a beach. The 130-meter-high Alphabet Tower, featuring inscriptions in the Georgian script, houses an observation deck with stunning sea views. In the Old Town, you can see many reconstructed 19th-century buildings. In the northern part of Batumi lies the botanical garden, home to plants from around the world.
