With food prices rising, bank interest rates increasing, and jobs being cut, the country faces a crisis. Antonia, along with other working-class women refusing to pay inflated prices, storms the shop and takes groceries without paying.
Yet Antonia faces an even bigger challenge — hiding the stolen goods from her law-abiding husband and from the police, who are already searching homes to catch the culprits.
Together with her accomplice Margherita, Antonia has to invent countless lies to escape suspicion, turning the situation into something absurd and hilariously comic. Her idea of hiding groceries under their clothes quickly spreads among all the neighborhood women. Soon every woman appears “pregnant,” the police are bewildered, and the situation spirals into a complete deadlock.
