Calvary

This is an Irish-torn and funny tragicomedy with the iconic red-bearded Brendan Gleeson ("In Bruges", "The Guard") about a priest who keeps the secret of confession even in the face of mortal danger.

A person comes to confess to Father James, a Catholic priest from a small Irish town. The unknown person reveals that he has been subjected to sexual violence by a church minister for many years and now plans to murder Father James. The fact that this modest cleric has never harmed a fly is actually for the best, as "the death of a bad priest will go unnoticed, whereas the murder of a good one can make society think."

Father James has a week to prepare for his death, but instead of getting his affairs in order or reporting to the police, he continues to live his usual life, bringing his parishioners daily small acts of kindness.
