It’s hard to believe, but our book club is already six months old! It all began in January — as a modest attempt to bring together those who miss reading in company, and those who lost their connection to books and want to rediscover it.
Today, it’s impossible to imagine life at Brodiachaia Sobaka without our book gatherings. In these six months, we’ve read and discussed five great books.
On June 26 (Thursday), the club meets for a book brunch to start a conversation about a modern classic of German literature — Bernhard Schlink and his latest novel, “The Granddaughter” (Die Enkelin).
Our format: one month — one book — two meetings.
How can you join the book club and what should you expect?
Express your interest in participating, and we’ll add you to the book club’s Telegram chat
The first meeting is on June 26: we’ll talk about contemporary European literature, Schlink’s biography, his famous novel “The Reader”, and draft guiding questions to help you as you read “The Granddaughter”
Over the next two to three weeks (we’ll agree on the timing during the first meeting), we’ll read the novel and meet again in mid-July for an in-depth discussion of all its storylines, themes, and subtexts.
